Raise Your Standards, Not Your To-Do List
May 01, 2025
You don’t need more daily self-care routines.
You need to raise your standards.
There, I said it.
It’s very trendy right now to have a daily ritual that “sets you up for success.” Wake up at 5am. Meditate. Journal. Drink lemon water. Move your body. Optimize your mind. Win the day.
And sure, there’s nothing wrong with any of those things. In fact, modeling what works for others can be powerful. But there’s a fine line between inspiration and obligation, and if we’re not careful, these routines can become another set of rules we feel we have to follow to be worthy, healthy, productive, or spiritual enough.
And that’s when something meant to support us starts to quietly disconnect us from ourselves.
Where Real Empowerment Begins
Enter: The Queen.
She is the first of the Sacred Four Archetypes in the Sacred Undressing Journey, and she teaches us something radical in a world obsessed with optimization:
👑 Know Yourself.
👑 Honor Yourself.
Because here’s the truth—looking for the perfect routine in what others are doing is still a form of control. And often, it’s a subtle form of self-abandonment.
Wait, what?!
Yes. When we constantly look outside ourselves for what to do, what to eat, how to meditate, or how to plan the perfect day, we are externalizing our power.
We’re trying to control the outcome.
We’re searching for certainty.
And in doing so, we forget to ask: What do I need today? What would feel good and right for me now?
From Routine to Intention
The Queen Archetype invites us to zoom out and tune in.
Instead of obsessing over each item on the to-do list or nailing a flawless 6-step morning ritual, she asks us to lead with intention.
Not: What should I do today?
But: What is my intention today? What are my standards for how I want to feel, live, and lead?
For example:
If your intention is to maximize your aliveness, start asking:
💫 What drains it?
💫 What nourishes it?
💫 What would help me feel most alive this morning?
One day that might mean a long meditation and a trail run.
Another day, it might mean skipping the routine altogether and lying in the sun with a journal.
Another? Starting your day with a green smoothie and diving straight into your creativity project because that’s what’s lighting you up.
This is how the Queen leads.
Not from rigid rules—but from inner authority.
Set Standards, Not Rules
So instead of stacking up more habits, routines, and boxes to check, try this:
🔸 Set your standards for health, aliveness, connection, and creativity.
🔸 Lead with intentions that reflect what matters to you.
🔸 Allow for flexibility so you can adapt to your real needs—not just your ideal schedule.
You are allowed to be inspired by others' rituals. But let your own wisdom lead. That’s what it means to know and honor yourself. That’s what real self-care looks like.
Your Power Lies Within
The Sacred Undressing Journey is all about removing what’s no longer true—so you can return to what’s always been true.
The Queen Archetype reminds us that we don’t need more rules to follow.
We need to trust ourselves more deeply.
Raise your standards.
Release the pressure.
And lead yourself like a Queen.
